| Broadband is Better The FirstClass Server, operating in a networked office (LAN), will be your company's INTRAnet. When the FirstClass Server is "plugged into" the INTERnet (via a connection provided by an Internet Service Provider — ISP), people not physcially connected to your office LAN can also access your INTRAnet. That means employees can "logon" to their accounts from somewhere else just as if theyw ere using the office computer. They will see nothing difffernt. Others will see them exactly the same as always. A dedicated T1 service is excellent way to conenct your office to the internet, but may be too much for the demands of your company. The easiest and least expensive way for companies to access the Internet is via a DSL service. many service providers ofer DSL. Start with your local telephone service provider and then also consider ompanies like Earthlink. Unfortunately, not every location is able to get DSL service. Cable modem service is a fine alternative. And if all else fails, individual 56k dial up accounts will work. CMIS can be configured in several ways (with respect to the location of yoru server, lease vs license and type of connection to the Internet) The basic difference is the degree of control that you have (you would not have administrator's privilages if leasing accounts on our FirstClass server) |
